In Early 2008 we became one of the elite few steel building companies that were awarded a membership as an ENERGY STAR PARTNER, something that is not handed out to just anyone. We were awarded a membership for our continuing efforts to design and manufacture steel buildings to meet the highest of energy standards. ICON has always made an effort to be a hyper-efficient green-minded company. We did not "go green" to try to look like a concerned organization, we live it every day.
Because of our continuing concern for green building efforts and protecting the world's environment, we joined The U.S. Green Building Council. The USGBC is a non-profit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System. We are completing the certification to become a LEED Accredited Professional. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the certification process. The LEED AP program is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which was established with the support of USGBC to allow for objective, balanced management of the credentialing program.
